During my teenage years, I learned English through my favorite hobbies: video games, board games, books, animated films (especially Disney!), and videos from online content creators. These passions inspired my academic path. I earned a literary high school diploma with a major in English in 2015, followed by a degree in Languages, Literatures, and Foreign Civilizations (LLCER) with an English major in 2018.

My initial goal was to become an English teacher, allowing me to share my passion with future generations through engaging media—such as video games, social networks, films, and TV shows—that resonate more with students. I thus completed the first year of my Master’s degree in English teaching in 2019. However, my internships left me dismayed, as they revealed a significant gap between teaching theory and classroom practice.

Fortunately, my translation classes opened my eyes to new and equally rewarding perspectives on my two languages, highlighting their creative applications and potential for linguistic twists and artistic recreation. This inspired me to pursue a new Master’s degree in 2021: Languages and Society in English-speaking Worlds, culminating in a master’s thesis that laid the foundation for my future profession, titled “Adapting Disney Songs from English to French: A Question of Artistic Choices?” This hard work led me to a final Master’s degree in Audiovisual Translation: Localization, Subtitling, and Dubbing (2023), which provided me with linguistic expertise, technical translation skills, and a methodology tailored to my areas of specialization.

Today, I’m equipped with the skills and abilities needed to excel in this industry. Alongside my passion for writing and creative projects (which entail qualities like creativity, curiosity, diligence, attention to detail, rigor, and perfectionism), my training has also provided me with a C2-level (near-native) proficiency in English according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Additionally, I honed my translation skills by learning to use professional tools and specializing in my preferred fields: artistic and entertainment media, including videos, films, animated movies, TV shows, video games, mobile games, advertisements, and board games.

Furthermore, an internship during my final Master’s degree allowed me to expand my skill set, including time management and communication with project managers and clients. I also gained experience with new software, such as computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, and explored types of translation beyond audiovisual work.

As a translator and consumer of products in my area of expertise, I can convey creative forms, ideas, and messages to a French-speaking audience while respecting the specific regulations, standards, and nuances of these fields. Furthermore, my extensive linguistic and cultural proficiency in both French and English, along with the technical, methodological, and organizational skills gained through my studies in English and audiovisual translation, enable me to translate any written and visual content from English to French. As this incredible profession is largely unregulated, I felt prompted to acquire key standards and safe protocols to reassure clients who wish to embark on this journey with me!
